Pan-Asia Supermarket in South Nashville spared from demolition in I-24 project (newschannel5.com) — A massive I-24 "choice lanes" project will move forward without demolishing South Nashville's new Pan-Asia Supermarket, Chinatown development, nearby townhomes, or the Hickory Hollow Parkway bridge. State officials chose a design that preserves these sites while adding tolled lanes between Nashville and Murfreesboro, with construction starting in 2027. TDOT will hold public meetings in Nashville and Smyrna next month for questions and feedback.
   

2. Orders of protection filed amid Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway petition dispute (wsmv.com) — A heated fight over the future of the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway has spilled into court, with two temporary orders of protection granted to petition canvassers who want racing replaced with greenspace and affordable housing. The group says opponents harassed and stalked workers gathering signatures across Nashville, while a consulting firm backing racing calls the claims a political stunt. A judge will review the orders at a hearing within the next month.
   

3. Why Nolensville QB Ryan Newell is all-in on football, despite college baseball future (tennessean.com subscription) — Nolensville senior quarterback Ryan Newell, already committed to play college baseball at Bowling Green, is still throwing himself fully into high school football under the Friday night lights. After leading the Knights to a 21-14 Week 1 win over Lebanon, he's aiming to push Nolensville deeper into the TSSAA playoffs, all while the program earns attention in the Nashville area's Super 25 rankings.
   

4. An ICE facility may be coming to the Nashville area. Here's what we know as local leaders say they were 'blindsided.' (wsmv.com) — Federal records show a $63 million ICE call center tied to the 287(g) program may be coming to Nashville's Donelson area, surprising city officials who say they were blindsided. Local lawmakers and immigrant advocates are already organizing opposition, arguing the facility would expand enforcement and surveillance in Davidson County. Mayor Freddie O'Connell's office says details remain unclear as they seek more information.
