• Anderson County says, 'Yes' to Rail-Trail. Is Scott County Next? (scnoneida.net) — Norris has already joined Clinton and Oak Ridge in backing a regional rail-trail that would convert a 42‑mile abandoned rail line from Oneida to Devonia into a recreational corridor. Anderson County’s new resolution adds momentum and could pressure Scott County, which previously opposed the project, to reconsider. Supporters point to major tourism and infrastructure benefits, while some residents remain wary of change and outside influence.

• Knox County school board signals support for amending state law after 'Roots' pushback (knoxnews.com) — Norris gets a meaningful mention as the later-life home of “Roots” author Alex Haley, whose novel was briefly banned and then reinstated in Knox County schools. The school board is now considering a resolution urging state lawmakers to clarify Tennessee’s Age-Appropriate Materials Act, after confusion over whether the law requires removing historically significant books that include depictions of sexual violence.
