1. Smith named TCAT President (scnoneida.net) — Leadership at TCAT Oneida/Huntsville is changing, with Tim Smith recommended as the next president to succeed longtime leader Dwight Murphy, who retires in June. Smith, already vice president of the campus and a veteran TCAT administrator, was chosen after public interviews and community feedback, edging out fellow finalist and Oneida native Noah Duncan.

2. $17-million TCAT campus opens in Oneida, offering new education programs (wate.com) — A brand-new $17 million TCAT campus has opened at 180 Eli Lane in Oneida, bringing aviation maintenance, allied health, dental assisting and other hands-on training programs to local students. State and local leaders, including Gov. Bill Lee, say the facility is designed to skill up Scott Countians for new job opportunities coming to Tennessee.

3. High Point Construction Begins (scnoneida.net) — Work has finally started on replacing the long-closed Niggs Creek Road overpass at High Point, a key project for Scott County drivers and local tourism. Funded through TDOT’s Improve Act and championed by state legislators during visits to Oneida, the $1.9 million bridge will be rebuilt to modern railroad and highway standards after delays tied to Norfolk Southern approvals.
