Growing number of people say person has been found lurking on people's homes, including reports of attempted home entry, foiled attack.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Community concern continues to mount amid increasing reports of a suspicious man lurking in Cedar Park backyards — to the point where more residents have purchased surveillance cameras, according to a report.
KVUE spoke to several Cedar Park residents who have reported close encounters with a lurker, about a month after one Leander resident said she was having dinner with her family only to look up to see a man staring through the window before fleeing.

Since then, several others have reported similar incidents, the news station reported:
- One woman is concerned for her three daughters' safety, especially when they were home alone last month and heard male voices outside their first-floor window. As the voices got louder, the girls reported someone started to toss pebbles on the window. By the time police arrived, the suspected interlopers were gone, the news station reported.
- Days before that incident, another girl saw a man standing on the sidewalk outside her home while staring at the building for several minutes, the station reported. The girl added the man was carrying green rope tied in a loop as he paced back and forth.
- Another woman living in the High Meadows neighborhood said she saw a man standing across the street staring at the house, she told the news station. The man was then spotted standing by the backyard fence. It gets worse: The following Saturday, the man kicked the front door trying to enter the house, the woman told the news station. She said when the family dog barked at the commotion, the man ran off.
- Four miles away on Forest Trail, a homeowner told KVUE her young sons were playing in the backyard before entering the house screaming that a man tried to grab one of the boys by the neck. Again, by the time police arrived, there was no sign of the intruder.
Mike Harmon, assistant chief at the Cedar Park Police Department, said they want to locate the man to run his license in determining whether he has any outstanding warrants and learn why he is in the area. Yet despite the increasing reports, Harmon said no pattern of activity has emerged that would prompt police to implement bolstered neighborhood patrols, he told the news station.
Given that police assessment, residents have taken steps to safeguard their own safety, adding security cameras and flood lights and, in the case of one woman, having her firearm close at hand. "I want to be able to see every angle, everything,” the woman told the news station.
The increased reports come at at time when police are urging residents to register their surveillance cameras with them. By registering, residents alert police to the presence of potential surveillance footage in an area where they might be investigating a crime, potentially aiding in solving crimes quicker.
