The cup will be spread across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

DALLAS, TX — The FIFA World Cup could bring a whole load of soccer fun to Dallas in 2026, the 68th Fifa Congress announced Wednesday after a Moscow meeting.

The meeting designated three North American host countries for the 2026 cup, which will be played by 48 teams from across the world, the World Cup said in a press release. Those designated countries are the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Of 200 votes cast, 134 went toward a World Cup hosted in North America, while another 65 went toward a cup in Morocco.

NBC Sports reports 2026 will mark the first time a World Cup has been held in North America since 1994, when it was hosted entirely by the U.S. The upcoming cup is the first time a tournament has been co-hosted by three countries.

Potential host cities have been designated for all three host countries, but the list will be whittled down before the World Cup begins.
