RICHARDSON, TX — Just-released affidavits claim Brandon McCall, the man accused of shooting and killing a Richardson police officer on Feb. 7, had a plan to ambush police officers. L.P. Phillips, a reporter for 1080 KRLD, said in a video posted to his Twitter account that Officer David Sherrard was shot only six seconds after entering the alleged gunman's apartment.
The attack was described as resembling a "tactical ambush," Phillips said. The officers were armed with Glocks while McCall carried an AR-15 assault rifle.
"In the words of one, 'It looked like he was hunting us,'" Phillips said.

A report from KRLD said McCall was "prone on the floor…at times…they say….moaning…acting as though he was wounded to draw officers out," according to documents.
Court records show McCall is charged with seven 2nd-degree felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is also charged with one count of capital murder of a peace officer.
