Global Mining Giant Weir to Expand Minerals Division Headquarters in Fort Worth

The global mining company Weir announced last week that it will expand its Minerals Division headquarters in downtown Fort Worth. That means a $3.4 million investment at 777 Main Street and the retention of 67 jobs.

Weir's business is focused on making the mining industry more sustainable and efficient through solutions that help miners use less energy and conserve water.

The expansion gives Weir the space to expand its workforce and host global executives and clients. Groundbreaking is expected to begin sometime in the second half of the year and will eventually support downtown hotels by bringing in 260 nights of corporate travel per year.

Minerals Division vice president of finance Phil Carey said, "We are pleased to expand the location of our Minerals Division headquarters in the heart of downtown. Fort Worth has proven to be a dynamic and welcoming home for our business and our people. This investment reflects our confidence in the city, our commitment to our employees and our excitement about continuing to grow alongside the community."

Mayor Mattie Parker said, "Our partnership with Weir highlights Fort Worth's proactive and strategic approach to economic development. This agreement will retain quality jobs and create further investment in our city—specifically downtown—for years to come, and I'm grateful for the teams at the City of Forth Worth and the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership for their leadership in moving this forward."

Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, said the project is a sign that the city's business community is thriving. "This announcement not only keeps jobs in the downtown area—it also has positive economic impact on nearby hotels and restaurants," he said. "It's further proof that when it comes to business expansion and recruitment, Fort Worth has a culture that gets it done."
