Randy Allen, Highland Park's Football Coach, To Retire: Report

Randy Allen has coached 43 seasons at Highland Park. The Dallas Morning News reports he's retiring with a 376-87-6 record.

HIGHLAND PARK, TX — A 19-year veteran of Highland Park's football coaching staff Wednesday announced his retirement. Surrounded by his family, Randy Allen shared only a few hours after deciding to leave the coaching world.

According to Dallas Morning News, Allen made the decision Tuesday night and, after telling the school and his players, announced it publicly Wednesday afternoon.

Highland Park's team won three state championships during Allen's tenure at the school — two in his last two seasons, The News wrote. He retires with a 376-87-6 record.

Highland Park's athletic director Johnny Ringo told Park Cities People that Allen changed the way the team played ball.

"Coach Allen literally changed the landscape for Scot football during the last 19 years, not only by winning three state championships but by displaying his tremendous faith each day," he told the publication. "He is a one-of-a-kind mentor to all who have had a chance to play for him or work with him. We wish him the best as he and his wife, Carolyn, enter this new chapter in their lives."

Park Cities People reported the district is working to find Allen's successor and will make an announcement in coming weeks.
