Retiring In America: Where Texas Ranks In 2019
At the very top of this year's WalletHub list was Florida.

DALLAS, TX -- If you're thinking about retirement, a new report suggests you may want to stick it out in Texas. The personal-finance website WalletHub compared the 50 states across 46 metrics, including the adjusted cost of living, weather, and quality of public hospitals, the organization said in a news release.
Texas ranked 20 overall while Florida and South Dakota ranked first and second respectively.
WalletHub compiled its report using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Council for Community and Economic Research, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation, among other places.

Here's a breakdown of Texas:
- 13th – Adjusted Cost of Living
- 12th – Annual Cost of In-Home Services
- 27th – WalletHub ‘Taxpayer’ Ranking
- 49th – Elderly-Friendly Labor Market
- 48th – % of Population Aged 65 & Older
- 30th – Property-Crime Rate
- 32nd – Life Expectancy
- 45th – Health-Care Facilities per Capita
