Austin PD IDs Officers Involved In In-Custody Death
Eduardo Pineda and Spencer Hanna — with a collective 6 years on the force — are on desk duty after the man they tased died at the hospital.
AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department on Friday released the names of two officers involved in an in-custody death last month.
Eduardo Pineda and Spencer Hanna both were placed on administrative duty following the March 31 in-custody death of 41-year-old Enrique Quiroz, who died after being tased by the two officers along the 800 block of West Slaughter Lane in South Austin.
Police said later that Quiroz was trespassing when he visited the home where his children lived, according to the children's mother. According to a previous police report, Quiroz was tased as police tried putting him in detention and later had a medical episode while already in handcuffs.

According to the latest police advisory, Pineda has been with the police department for four years while Hanna has worked for the force two years. Both officers are assigned patrol duty in the southeast part of the city.
As an investigation into the incident continues, police added, both officers have been placed on administrative duty per protocol when a detainee dies during the course of police work.
