Austin Residents 7th Most Likely In U.S. To Keep Resolutions

Researchers at the personal finance website WalletHub compared 180 U.S. cities to see which are likelier to keep New Year's pledges.

AUSTIN, TX — So you've made your New Year's resolutions, but what are your chances of actually keeping them? Those of us living in Austin have the seventh-best chance of actually maintaining our start-of-year pledges as compared to other states, according to a newly released study.

With just 8 percent of Americans keeping their resolutions, the personal finance website WalletHub dispatched its researchers to compile the 2020 Best & Worst Cities for Keeping Your New Year's Resolutions.

The upshot: The capital city emerged in the top ten of cities in which resolutions are more likely to be kept. To achieve their rankings, WalletHub analysts compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 57 key metrics with a data set ranging from adult obesity to employment to income growth. The new report complements WalletHub’s previously released list of the top New Year’s Financial Resolutions for 2020 and its corresponding consumer survey.
