1. 1 killed, another injured after house under construction collapses in Austin due to strong winds, Texas (watchers.news) — A house under construction in south Austin collapsed during powerful thunderstorms, killing one worker and injuring another as winds strong enough to down trees swept through central Travis County. Emergency crews, STAR Flight, and federal safety investigators responded, while the National Weather Service tracked severe storms affecting Austin, Onion Creek, Bee Cave, and nearby communities.

Oleksandr Svatok's late goal pushes Austin FC past Timbers (statenews.net) — Austin soccer fans just saw their club steal a dramatic road win, with Oleksandr Svatok scoring in stoppage time to give Austin FC a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers. The Verde have now won back-to-back away matches and inched closer to the Western Conference playoff line after a rough start and a midseason coaching change.
