German Wine To Be Paired With Texas BBQ At Hot Luck Fest

Kicking off this weekend, event starting at Hi, How Are You on May 24 shows how complementary such seemingly incongruous pairings may seem.

AUSTIN, TX — While one wouldn't normally associate Germany with Texas BBQ, that's exactly the combo to be featured during this year's Hot Luck Fest kicking off this weekend.

The event running from May 23-26 aims to show how a wide variety of German wines actually perfectly complements the flaming, smoky-sweet flavors of barbecue. Things kick off at Giddy Up, the welcome party for the Hot Luck family. "All our food heroes get together to swap whopping lies and insider truths about life in the weeds," organizers wrote on the event website.

Attendees can discover things at Hi, How Are You on May 24 at a pouring station featuring five different German wine selections from which to sample. The next day, on May 25, wine can be found at Al Fuego another five wines will be poured, two of which will be curated especially for dishes served by Chef Max Snyder of Pitchfork Pretty and Chef Austin Rocconi of Hotel Ella.
