Wags & Wellness joins people, dogs for health education (thedailytexan.com) — Austin dog lovers and fitness fans recently gathered at Mueller's Girard Kinney Park for Wags & Wellness, a free event blending health education with pet-friendly fun. With over 1,900 RSVPs, the gathering supported Austin Pets Alive! and featured Austin Animal Services offering free microchip checks, adoption waivers, and ID tags. Organizers hope to grow the inclusive, all-ages event even more next fall.
   

2. 'The baddest bitches are not just in L.A.,' but in Austin with ADÉLA (thedailytexan.com) — A Slovakian pop singer performing as ADÉLA brought her high-energy Red Bottoms Tour to a sold-out Emo's, marking her first-ever Austin show. Fans in pink wigs packed the venue as she blended ballet-inspired choreography with hyperpop hits, repeatedly shouting out Austin and even crowning one attendee the "Baddest Bitch of Austin." The night mixed fashion, empowerment themes, and plenty of audience participation.
   

3. Where do dogs belong? Texas' pet-friendly culture sparks debate (mysanantonio.com) — Austin's dog-friendly reputation is drawing both praise and pushback from residents who share parks, patios, and sidewalks with pets every day. A recent WalletHub ranking put Austin among the nation's top pet-friendly cities, while a viral TikTok from a local critic reignited debate over dogs in restaurants, grocery stores, and other public spaces under Texas' relatively permissive outdoor-dining law.
   

4. 7 Fun Things to Do in Austin This Weekend: Oct. 1-4 (austinmonthly.com) — Austin residents have a packed first October weekend ahead, from Weekend 1 of ACL Fest in Zilker Park to a Christy Carlson Romano book talk at BookPeople and spooky thrills at House of Torment. Faculty and students in Austin describe the consolidation, driven by a 2025 state law shifting curriculum power to regents, as part of a broader rollback of ethnic and gender studies in Texas.
