Police Respond To Second North Austin Bank Robbery In Two Days
Chase Bank branch robbery at 3317 Northland Dr. on Thursday comes one day after site at 9901 N. Lamar Blvd. was held up.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — For the second time is as many days, a North Austin bank branch was held up on Thursday — the fourth such heist so far this year.
The latest incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. at the Chase Bank branch located at 3317 Northland Dr. The suspect displayed a note in demanding cash before fleeing on foot, leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male between 40 and 50 years old standing at five feet, ten inches tall of medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket, a tan "bonnie"-style hat, light-colored pants and black/gray tennis shoes.

Police released surveillance camera images of the suspect in the hopes someone might recognize him and alert police as to his whereabouts.

The latest incident marks the second straight day that a bank has been held up in North Austin. On Wednesday, the Chase Bank branch at 9901 N. Lamar Blvd. was held up at around 9:45 a.m. by a suspect with a similar description. The suspect in that incident displayed a weapon and left a suspicious package behind before fleeing, prompting the police bomb squad to be dispatched toward clearing the scene.
It's unknown if the two robberies are connected.
