Second Central Texas Resident Snags Big Lottery Prize

Anonymous winner in Bastrop claims $1M prize from scratch ticket days after someone in Cedar Park won $227M (not a typo) with Mega Millions.

AUSTIN, TX — A Central Texas resident in nearby claimed a $1 million prize on an "Instant Millionaire" scratch-off ticket, days after a single winner in Cedar Park matched all digits needed to win $227 million during Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing.

That's not a typo in reference to the Cedar Park winner, by the way. But more about that later.

A resident of Bastrop, Texas, located some 30 miles southeast of Austin, bought the winning scratch-off ticket at the Lake Bastrop Mini Mart, 254 Zimmerman Ave., to claim the $1 million payout, Texas Lottery Commission officials revealed.

The win comes days after someone in Cedar Park hit that aforementioned fat prize earlier this week via Mega Millions.

And in the Houston area, Texas gained another newly minted multi-millionaire this week after a lucky resident matched all six numbers of the Lotto Texas jackpot worth $23.75 million, officials said. The winning lottery ticket was sold at the Murphy USA store near Highway 105 in Montgomery County, according to Texas Lottery Commission officials. The winning numbers from Wednesday's drawing are: 5-9-26-38-41-44.

Each player has opted to remain anonymous (can you blame them?!?!) as is allowed in Texas for reasons related to security (and probably to avoid long-lost "cousins" coming out of the woodwork).

Their identities may remain a mystery, but if Cedar Park or Bastrop residents notice a friend or acquaintance suddenly dressing better or ordering that extra dollop of guacamole at the sandwich shop that comes at an extra charge — saying yes to the guac with wild abandon and not a second of hesitation — that's probably your neighborhood winner.
