Alongside broader Army discussions on AI and human‑machine teaming, this decision could reshape Fort Hood's energy reliability, support high-tech operations, and bring significant new infrastructure investment to the post. 
2. The US Army is implementing a $2.2 billion initiative. for the construction of nuclear microreactors at five military facilities in the country within the framework of the Janus program (news-pravda.com) — Fort Hood is one of five Army bases chosen for a $2.2 billion program to build nuclear microreactors that generate 1–20 megawatts of on-site power. The initiative aims to deliver tailored skills training, safety planning, and extra support at key points in a soldier's career, with the goal of reducing suicide attempts and strengthening overall readiness.
5. Inadvertent Harm From State Veterans Exceptions (texassignal.com) — Killeen's city budget is being squeezed by Texas' disabled veterans property tax exemption, which dramatically reduces local revenue because of the city's proximity to Fort Hood. Local officials say inadequate state reimbursement forces higher taxes on other residents, and they're pushing for military-adjacent communities to unite before the next legislative session to demand more state support.
