Ironically, Texas A&M-Fort Worth Snags Vandergriff Award (fwtx.com) — Texas A&M–Fort Worth has been chosen for the Fort Worth Chamber's 2026 Vandergriff Award, honoring its fast-growing downtown campus and economic impact on Tarrant County. Locals can see the award presented and hear Judge Tim O'Hare's State of the County address at a luncheon Oct. 14 at River Ranch Stockyards, highlighting how the new campus aims to elevate Fort Worth as a national higher-education hub.
   

2. North Texas maternal health accelerator wins $4 million Texas grant (dallasnews.com) — Fort Worth's mayor just announced a $4 million state grant to the North Texas Maternal Health Accelerator, boosting programs that support local moms, babies, and families. The funding will expand MHMR's Help Me Grow services, including home nurse visits, building on early results that already show fewer severe obstetric complications and positioning Fort Worth as a leader in maternal health innovation.
   

3. Fort Worth Zoo announces births of two Sumatran tiger cubs (fortworthbusiness.com) — Fort Worth residents can soon meet two newborn Sumatran tiger cubs at the Fort Worth Zoo, the first of their kind ever born there. The cubs, Barani and Malu, are thriving behind the scenes in the new Predators of Asia & Africa habitat and should debut publicly in coming weeks, highlighting the zoo's growing conservation work and expanded exhibits.
   

4. Goodfellows charity partners with Boys & Girls Club of Tarrant County (star-telegram.com) — A long-running Fort Worth charity, the Goodfellow Fund, is teaming up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County to provide 6,000 $100 Old Navy gift cards to local children in need. Rooted in Fort Worth's history through Amon G. Carter and the Star-Telegram, the partnership aims to reach more Fort Worth and Tarrant County families efficiently while preserving their dignity during the holidays.
   

5. Friends, community catch a glimpse of Fort Worth native as she competes on 'Survivor' (fortworthreport.org) — A Fort Worth-born TCU medical student, Thien An Nguyen, is competing on the current season of CBS's 'Survivor,' and dozens of friends and fans packed Coco Shrimp in Near Southside for a lively watch party. The gathering celebrated a hometown contestant chasing a long-held dream, with supporters saying her personality and resilience make her an easy Fort Worth favorite to root for this season.
