• Officer Involved Shooting Case# 26-16494 (texasmetronews.com) — Irving police shot a woman armed with a knife after a domestic disturbance call on Rolston Road, when a less-lethal round failed to stop her advance toward officers. She was taken to a hospital, her condition unknown, and parallel criminal and administrative investigations are underway, including a review by the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit. 
• Irving Proposes Same Property Tax Rate, but Average Homeowner's City Tax Bill Would Rise $114 (irvingweekly.com) — Irving homeowners are looking at a higher 2026 city property tax bill even though the council plans to keep the rate at $0.5891 per $100 in value. Rising appraisals mean the average homestead's city tax would climb about $114, and residents can still weigh in at a Sept. 3 public hearing or by contacting council members.
• Top high schools in Texas for 2026 ranked by U.S. News and World Report (star-telegram.com) — A new U.S. News ranking puts Uplift Education–North Hills Prep High School in Irving among the top high schools in Texas and 157th nationally. The list highlights how several North Texas campuses, including Irving's charter, stack up for college readiness and STEM performance compared with schools across the state and country.
