An arrest has not been made, and Costello did not provide a description of the suspect. He urged any potential witnesses to come forward to aid police in their investigation.

Despite that two fatal shootings have occurred at the same complex in a span of 13 days, Costello somehow reasoned that crime was down at the property: "I can tell you there's kind of been a partnership building between the management here. I under their New managment is very helpful with police investigations, and there's a new relationship forming between the two. Since this new management has taken over, we have seen crime decrease."

He later explained the responsiveness of the new management staff has enabled police to be more proactive — making their presence known in the area with added patrols, for instance — rather than merely reacting to crimes in their immediate aftermath.

"I definitely believe that relationship is going to grow," Costello said of enhanced communication between those at the apartment complex and police.
