Odessa selects Carollo Engineers for overhaul of Bob Derrington water reclamation plant (smartwatermagazine.com) — Odessa is moving ahead with a major overhaul of the Bob Derrington Water Reclamation Plant, aiming to modernize aging equipment while keeping water treatment and reuse services running for residents and industry. Carollo Engineers will handle design and engineering through public meetings and council briefings, with the upgraded plant expected to be finished by spring 2033.

Odessa Police: Woman charged with DWI after hitting 4 vehicles (firstalert7.com) — Odessa police report a 71-year-old driver was charged with DWI after her GMC Yukon left Faudree, hit a parked Jeep at iWwash, then struck two more vehicles in a nearby Dollar General lot. Two people were taken to MCH with non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver faces traffic citations plus a DWI charge after being treated herself.
   

3. Odessa police arrest man for fleeing, possession (newswest9.com) — Odessa police say a man ran from officers during a disturbance call on John Ben Shepperd Parkway before being tackled in a parking lot and arrested. According to an affidavit, officers reported finding THC gummies and noted a prior evading conviction, leading to multiple resisting, evading, and drug possession charges and booking into Ector County Jail.
   

4. UTPB football debuts at No. 18 on D2Football.com Preseason Top 25 Poll (firstalert7.com) — UTPB's Falcons, based in Odessa, open the 2026 season ranked No. 18 in D2Football.com's preseason poll after finishing last year at No. 3. With a new head coach, many fresh starters, and optimism from returning players, the program is gearing up for its Aug. 29 kickoff against UT Rio Grande Valley.

'We made a lot of friends': Argentine couple flying around the world makes a stop in Odessa (firstalert7.com) — World-traveling Argentine pilots Claudio Robetto and Betina Raimondi touched down in Odessa, sharing how their round-the-world journey is really about friendships and learning from different cultures.
