Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- On Monday, June 27, "a city worker heard a cry for help from a truck on a remote back road in San Antonio and discovered a gruesome scene." When police arrived, they found 46 dead people and 16 survivors, who were taken to the hospital. According to Police Chief William McManus, "three people were taken into custody, but it was not immediately clear if they were connected with human trafficking." Roberto Velasco Álvarez, head of the North America department in Mexico's Foreign Relations Department, tweeted, "Our condolences. All responsible will be brought to justice." (San Antonio Patch)
- On Friday, July 1, 31 individuals "from the Southwest School of Art (SSA)" will bring their respective areas of expertise" to UTSA "and help facilitate a seamless transition to expand arts education for our region" as new employees. Veronica Salazar, UTSA chief financial officer and senior vice president for business affairs, said, "We are thrilled to partner with our new colleagues from SSA as they join the UTSA familia." She added, "Together, our teams will work collaboratively to ensure a successful transition for our growing downtown community." (UTSA)

- On Monday, June 20, James Avery "released a set of Tex-Mex themed "charms that are already a hit in San Antonio! The charms include a "taco truck, guacamole-filled molcajete, Texas serape, and festive maracas." They can be purchased online through its website at all U.S. James Avery stores, including its "19 locations in the San Antonio area." (mySA)
- Next year, "the popular YouTube show Spy Ninjas'" will make a stop in San Antonio during its national tour. The live production show will take place on Friday, March 11, at Tech Port Arena located at 3331 General Hudnell Drive. Tom Greenwood Mears, executive producer of Spy Ninjas, said, "Like our YouTube videos, we'll combine martial arts, stealth, and detective work to battle the Hackers, all with the help of our local Spy Ninjas fans."
