Police Close Down Street After Pedestrian Is Struck, Killed By Vehicle In South Austin
The incident in the 2300 block of Interstate 35 marks the fifth time a pedestrian has been hit in city streets.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police have shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at Oltorf Street after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics responded to the 2300 block of I-35 at around 12:30 p.m. and found a man in his 40s dead at the scene. Law enforcement officials are urging motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

This is the fifth time this month — and the ninth this year — that a pedestrian has been hit on Austin streets. Four other pedestrians have been hit in that last few weeks in various parts of the city, including a woman in her 40s struck in North Austin last week; a man in his late 50s also run over after falling in the street in North Austinthis week; a 38-year-old woman hit in South Austin Nov. 23; and a 61-year-old man hit by two cars after he attempted to cross I-35 in North Austin on Nov. 16.
