Obama Gives Virtual 2020 Commencement Address

In a primetime event, former President Barack Obama will deliver a commencement address for more than 3 million high school seniors.

Former President Barack Obama will virtually address this year's graduating seniors Saturday night, capping his first day of public addresses to a national audience during the coronavirus pandemic.

"#GraduateTogether: America Honors The Class Of 2020" will honor the more than 3 million high school seniors across the country.

  • When To Watch: The one-hour event start at 8 p.m. ET.
  • How To Watch: The event will air live on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, and will be streaming on multiple online platforms including Facebook, Hulu, NBC News Now, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.

Artists, athletes, musicians, influencers and cultural icons are expected to show their support during the event with performances and messages featuring students, teachers, and their families from coast to coast.

The event was organized by The Entertainment Industry Foundation, The LeBron James Family Foundation and education think-tank XQ Institute, among others.

Earlier Saturday, Obama spoke during “Show Me Your Walk, HBCU Edition,” a two-hour event for students graduating from historically black colleges and universities broadcast on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

The former president is also slated to participate in YouTube's virtual commencement event on June 6 with wife Michelle Obama.
