WASHINGTON, DC — A Russian cybercriminal group has reportedly hacked the National Rifle Association and released multiple files belonging to the organization to the dark web, according to a report by NBC News.

The group known as Grief posted 13 files to its website Wednesday after claiming to have hacked the NRA, NBC News reported. The group is now threatening to release more files if not paid a ransom, though it did not say how much it was demanding.

Many cybersecurity experts believe Grief is a new effort by a group of Russian cybercriminals who previously used the nickname Evil Corp, which is currently under sanctions by the U.S. Treasury Department.
