Amazon Gives Instagram Mom A 'Silent Night' From Toddler And Meow-y Christmas For The Cat

When a mom of two young boys and a cranky cat tagged the retail giant over social media, Amazon answered with this hilarious reply.

MARYLAND — The Instagrammer known as "Satirical Mommy" brings joy and laughter to her thousands of followers, but recently, she received a little love back from Amazon.

"Satirical Mommy"—also known as Alexis— is a Maryland-based mother to boisterous 6- and 3-year-old boys. With the holidays in full swing, her youngest son was driving the family cat to distraction. His antics created a question in the house:

Could a mom who can find anything on Amazon resolve her toddler vs. kitten dilemma through the retail giant?

The answer was a resounding "yes."

"We brought home kittens during coronavirus," Satirical Mommy tells Patch. "Donut and Muffin, our own 'Breakfast Club.' "

During the coronavirus shutdown, the family took on a bit more than they planned. The family moved to a new home, started a new (online) school, and added Donut and Muffin to their brood.

The kittens brought a unique set of challenges.

"We felt so bad for having to limit so many activities for the kids, turn down birthday parties and get-togethers, that we caved and agreed to get kittens — because it's not like we had enough on our plates!" she tells Patch in an email interview.

"I grew up with cats. My husband never owned a pet in his life," Alexis writes. "I was prepared for kids being hard on marriage in the early months. I was not prepared for kittens to be! (haha). It was insanity the first few weeks. Just trying to keep those poor cats alive and safe from the kids, especially the toddler, who just wanted to love them but didn't know how to love them gently."

When the toddler chased after the cat, it went into hiding.

Still, mom's gentle instruction to not race after the furry feline fell on deaf ears.

Instead, Alexis took a different tack, saying the kitten would hide so well maybe they'd be unable to find it.

"The oldest then said, 'It's OK, Amazon can help us because Mommy finds everything from there,'" she said. As she runs a satire mommy Instagram account, his innocent statement was perfect for her audience of 23,000 followers.

The response back from Amazon's social media account was a complete surprise, and Satirical Mommy kept the conversation going.

Their exchange was more than she hoped for.

The retail giant answered with enthusiasm and delivered a package the next day.

Inside, Alexis found a mug for mom and cat earmuffs for the kitty.

The mug was a hit.

The earmuffs weren't.

Still, she is grateful to the Amazon Social Media team for the attempt and for providing proof that you really can buy almost anything on Amazon.com.

"This was not planned or an ad or a paid sponsorship," she says. Alexis will continue finding the joy and humor in her daily struggle with toddlers, pets and her reliance on online shopping.

Happy Holidays! Here is a silent night for all of our Patch mamas out there.
