Texas School Cop Who Body Slammed Girl On Camera Fired
Joshua Kehm was fired effective immediately, a school district statement said.

Joshua Kehm, a school police officer in San Antonio, was fired Monday after a cell phone video surfaced that showed him body slamming a girl onto the ground as a group of students watched nearby.
Kehm's police report was also inconsistent with what was shown on video, and he was delayed in filing it, according to a statement from the San Antonio Independent School District.
His termination is effective immediately, and a school district investigation into the incident is ongoing, the statement said.

"As educators, it is our responsibility to provide a safe environment for all of our students,” SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez said in the statement. “We understand that situations can sometimes escalate to the point of requiring a physical response; However, in this situation we believe that the extent of the response was absolutely unwarranted."
In the video, Kehm is seen struggling with a young girl, identified to local media by her mom as 12-year-old Janissa Valdez. Kehm eventually picks her up and slams her into the ground as her shocked classmates look on.

The incident happened on March 29 at Rhodes Middle School, but the video did not surface until seven days later. Kehm had been placed on administrative when the investigation began. It is still ongoing.
“We recognize the high level of emotion generated by this incident, and we want to ensure the public’s trust in this investigation, that it is being conducted without any perception of bias,” Martinez said.
“We know that this incident does not define our District police department, which is dedicated to serving and protecting our school community. We all want to make sure this kind of incident does not occur again and we will seek to identify areas where improvement may be needed.”
