Jennifer steps into the Patch world as an experienced journalist. She has been with Patch since August 2010 and previously launched the Eagan Patch website in early November 2010. Her past role as the online content editor at an NBC-affiliate TV station allowed her to tailor her journalistic background to meet the needs of a growing online media operation.
She is a 2007 graduate of the University of Minnesota's School of Journalism and Mass Communications. While in college, she interned as a reporter for Thisweek Newspapers.
Jennifer moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in July 2007, and began getting acquainted with her new surroundings as a staff writer for a newspaper that covered two communities on the Gulf Coast. She most loved learning about what issues were important to the communities, since they were completely different than back in Minnesota. She grew several great bonds with local residents, mayors, school board officials, city managers and students.
Jennifer was often told by community members how thankful they were that she reported what was actually happening in the community and not her own opinion.
Working at the community newspaper really allowed Jennifer to work on becoming an even better, well-rounded writer.
She went on to work as the online content editor at KRIS-TV, the local Corpus Christi NBC-affiliate TV Station. There she picked up on what it was like to work in a fast-paced newsroom with even stricter deadlines. She was very excited about that position because she felt everything would be online one day, and knew this was the perfect direction for her career.
She had many responsibilities at the station, including taking photos of events in Corpus Christi, and editing and posting many, many stories, photos and videos daily. Jennifer also was responsible for sending out breaking news e-mails, monitoring comments made by users, training the newsroom on AP Style, and helping reporters and anchors post stories to the site.
When Jennifer isn't working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Jennifer has two cats, Nala and Layla, and they mean the world to her. She likes shopping (especially at Target), renting movies, going out to eat and attending social events.
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.
Politics
I am not, personally, very involved with politics. I grew up in a very republican household and feel I am right in the middle on most issues.

Religion
I grew up going to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville. I volunteered as a Sunday School teacher there for 3 and 4-year-olds as a high school senior. I do not regularly attend church anymore.
