• Split vote advances Glendale rezone as Salt Lake City tables citywide housing proposal (fox13now.com) — Salt Lake City's Planning Commission has advanced a tightly conditioned rezone for about two dozen new homes in Glendale while tabling a sweeping Expanding Housing Options proposal due to a notice error. Neighbors and housing advocates are sharply divided over density, affordability, and neighborhood impacts, and the Glendale plan now heads to the City Council for final consideration and another public hearing.
   

• Girls Do the Work makes volunteering easy for women in SLC – The Daily Utah Chronicle (dailyutahchronicle.com) — A Salt Lake City–based nonprofit called Girls Do the Work is giving local women easy, organized ways to volunteer through monthly service projects that support families, children, seniors, and animals. Recent efforts included a large back-to-school clothing giveaway and collaborations with groups like Prevent Child Abuse Utah, and the founder hopes to expand chapters across Utah while keeping volunteer opportunities simple and accessible.
   

• Intermountain Health study finds AI technology is key to improved treatment of patients with COPD and Asthma (abc4.com) — Researchers at Salt Lake City–based Intermountain Health report that an AI-driven monitoring program for COPD and asthma patients cut hospitalizations by half and emergency visits by 20 percent, while sharply reducing costs. The two-year iCARE study, which included LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City and other Utah facilities, used home devices and predictive software to flag early warning signs and trigger timely support from respiratory care navigators.
