Seamus Kennedy is
unique among folk singers. He is blessed
with a gorgeous voice, an impeccable guitar style and the ability to
impersonate a dyslexic sheep. Audience
members at a Seamus Kennedy concert find themselves chortling, laughing,
singing and sometimes even dancing uncontrollably. Join us for an evening of uproarious
family-friendly fun at the Knox Presbyterian Church on January 4 at 8 p.m. and
hear Seamus Kennedy’s hilarious repertoire of Irish, Scottish and American
songs, stories, and tongue twisters.
Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Seamus Kennedy honed his craft over 37 years of performing in America and Great
Britain. He was first influenced by the
legendary Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem; from them he learned the importance of
being an all-round entertainer, not just a solid musician and singer.
Members of the
Washington Area Music Association have voted Seamus “Best Irish Male Vocalist”
several times. He has released 14 recordings and co-authored a book of road
stories, Clean Cabbage in the Bucket (And
Other Tales from the Irish Music Trenches), with four of his musical
colleagues. You can learn more about
Seamus at his website, seamuskennedy.com.
