Northam Addresses Eviction Proceedings, Phase 3 Reopening

Gov. Ralph Northam said Thursday was his last regular news briefing on the coronavirus situation in Virginia, but he may schedule future briefings as needed. The governor and other officials gave updates on the expiring moratorium on eviction proceedings, Virginia's readiness for phase three of reopening, testing improvements and school reopening decisions. There have been 47 briefings held during the crisis in Virginia.

VA Long-Term Care Facilities Account For Vast Majority Of Deaths

The latest cumulative totals for all of Virginia are 59,946 positive cases, 5,995 hospitalizations and 1,675 deaths. The vast majority of the deaths have occurred at long-term care facilities that have reported coronavirus outbreaks. At these long-term care facilities across the state, 1,023 people have died from the coronavirus.

DC Mayor Encourages Residents To Stay Home July 4th

As District residents begin to make plans to celebrate the Fourth of July, Mayor Muriel Bowser reminded the public that the city is still under a public health emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fredericksburg Begins Process To Address Institutional Racism

The Fredericksburg City Council approved a response and recovery plan Tuesday in response to calls for reforms to address racial inequality and race discrimination. The three-phase plan is expected to guide the city council and city administration into early 2021.

Patient First Offering COVID-19 Antibody Testing At NoVA Centers

Patient First is now offering COVID-19 antibody testing at all of its medical centers in Northern Virginia on a walk-in basis, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., every day of the week. Appointments are not needed for antibody testing.

House Poised To Pass Historic DC Statehood Bill

Democratic leaders gathered on Capitol Hill Thursday afternoon to celebrate introduction of the D.C. statehood bill on the House of Representatives floor. With 226 cosponsors, the bill is expected to pass the House easily on Friday when the vote is taken, making it the first D.C. statehood bill to pass either house of Congress in the country's history.
