Light Bulb Falls, Causes Fire At West Springfield Store
A West Springfield carpet store and surrounding businesses were evacuated when a hot light bulb fell and ignited a fire.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, VAāA hot light bulb that fell caused a three-alarm fire at a West Springfield carpet store Wednesday.
Around 5:30 p.m. firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the front of the building in the 6300 block of Rolling Road. The building's occupants directed them to the fire in the basement, and all of the surrounding businesses were evacuated.
Four people were in the carpet store at the time of the fire. Although the business did not have smoke alarms, a sprinkler system kept the fire confined. Firefighters managed to keep the blaze in the basement before completely extinguishing it. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and no one else was injured.
