20 Arlington Police Officers Honored At Promotion Ceremony

The Arlington County Police Department held a ceremony on March 30 to recognize a group of police officers who recently were promoted.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington County Police Department held a ceremony last week to recognize 20 police officers who recently were promoted to the ranks of captain, lieutenant and corporal.

Family and friends were invited to attend the March 30 ceremony and then pin the officer’s new badge to their uniform.

The ACPD is authorized 376 sworn police officer positions but currently has only 290 certified and functional police officers, Arlington County Police Chief Andy Penn said last week.

In recognition of the officers' promotions, the ACPD asked residents to "congratulate all of these officers on their hard work and continued dedication to the Arlington community."

Among the 20 promotions, two officers were promoted to the rank of captain:
