Arlington Coronavirus Update: 2 New Cases After Jump On Sunday
The Virginia Department of Health confirmed two additional coronavirus cases in Arlington after a one-day jump in cases on Sunday.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Virginia Department of Health confirmed two new deaths in the Arlington Health District due to COVID-19, the disease associated with the new coronavirus. The total number of COVID-19 deaths stands at 132.
There are two new cases of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District as of Monday morning, bringing the total number of cases in the health district to 2,466. This comes a day after health officials reported 10 new cases in the county due to COVID-19, which is the highest number of new cases reported since June 21, when 13 were reported.
"A single day case increase isn’t indicative of any trends," said Cara O'Donnell, acting public information officer with Arlington's Public Health Division. "Arlington’s positivity rate has been under 10 percent for the past two weeks,

In the health district, there are currently 418 hospitalized patients, up one patient since Friday.
As of Monday, there are 62,189 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 1,740 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There are currently 6,164 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 16 coronavirus outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Thursday, with 543 cases related to an outbreak. There have been 11 outbreaks at long term care facilities, two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings in Arlington. There have been 172 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington health care workers.
On Monday, Virginia health officials reported 22,224 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 2.7 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 702,110 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 5.7 percent positivity rate.
Virginia plans to enter phase three of its coronavirus reopening plan for businesses and other establishments across the state, including Northern Virginia, starting July 1, Gov. Ralph Northam said last week at a news conference in Richmond. The governor said public health metrics are moving in a direction that makes him confident the state can safely start phase three.
On Thursday, the Virginia Department of Health reported a 7-day percent positive average of 6 percent, a new low for the state. At its peak in mid-April, the statewide positive rate had been above 20 percent. Northam added that hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients — and those in the intensive care units and using ventilators — are trending downward.
Globally, more than 10.1 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 502,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Monday morning. In the United States, more than 2.5 million people have been infected and over 125,000 people have died from COVID-19.

- 0-9: 44 cases
- 10-19: 91 cases
- 20-29: 419 cases
- 30-39: 446 cases
- 40-49: 421 cases
- 50-59: 379 cases
- 60-69: 279 cases
- 70-79: 172 cases
- 80+: 204 cases
