Arlington Coronavirus Update: 6 Days Without Any New Deaths

Virginia Department of Health reported no additional deaths in the Arlington Health District due to the new coronavirus.

ARLINGTON, VA — For the sixth day in a row, there have been no new deaths due to COVID-19, the disease associated with the new coronavirus, in the Arlington Health District. As of Wednesday morning, the total number of deaths in the health district stands at 126, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

There are seven new cases of the new coronavirus in the Arlington Health District as of Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of cases in the health district to 2,438. In the health district, there are currently 415 hospitalized patients, up one patient since Tuesday.

As of Wednesday, there are 59,514 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 1,661 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There are currently 5,955 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 16 coronavirus outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Wednesday, with 542 cases related to an outbreak. There have been 11 outbreaks at long term care facilities, two outbreaks at a congregate setting and two outbreaks in health care settings in Arlington. There have been 170 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington health care workers.

On Wednesday, Virginia health officials reported 20,210 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 4.3 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 636,096 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 6.0 percent positivity rate.

Virginia plans to enter phase three of its coronavirus reopening plan for businesses and other establishments across the state, including Northern Virginia, starting July 1, Gov. Ralph Northam said Tuesday at a news conference in Richmond. The governor said public health metrics are moving in a direction that makes him confident the state can safely start phase three next week.

Globally, more than 9.2 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 478,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Wednesday morning. In the United States, more than 2.3 million people have been infected and over 121,000 people have died from COVID-19.

  • 0-9: 43 cases
  • 10-19: 91 cases
  • 20-29: 410 cases
  • 30-39: 441 cases
  • 40-49: 416 cases
  • 50-59: 374 cases
  • 60-69: 277 cases
  • 70-79: 172 cases
  • 80+: 204 cases
