Arlington Coronavirus Update: Fewest New Cases In 2 Months
Virginia Health Department reported the fewest number of new coronavirus cases in a single day for Arlington since July 17.
ARLINGTON, VA — Virginia Department of Health reported four new cases Tuesday of COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, in the Arlington Health District. That's the lowest number of new cases of COVID-19 reported in a single day, since four were reported on July 17. The total number of confirmed cases stands at 3,855.
Virginia health officials also reported one new death due to COVID-19 Tuesday in the Arlington. The last new death was reported on Monday. The total of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health District is 148.
To date, there have been 494 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Arlington.

There have been 142,010 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 3,060 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 10,675 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
VDH reported Tuesday that 61,901 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 3.7 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 2,054,035 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 5.7 percent positivity rate, according to VDH.

There have been 19 outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Tuesday's , with 575 cases related to an outbreak, with two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings. There have been 210 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington involving health care workers.
Globally, more than 31.3 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 966,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Tuesday morning. In the United States, more than 6.8 million people have been infected and over 200,000 people have died from COVID-19.

Arlington residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
