Arlington Coronavirus Update: Total Number Of Cases Nears 4,000
Virginia Department of Health confirmed 10 additional cases Wednesday of the new coronavirus in the Arlington Health District.
ARLINGTON, VA — Virginia Department of Health reported 10 new cases Wednesday of COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, in the Arlington Health District. That's about half the 22 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Tuesday. The total number of confirmed cases stands at 3,995.
Virginia health officials also reported no new deaths due to COVID-19 Wednesday in Arlington. The last new death was reported on Tuesday. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health District is 150.
To date, there have been 500 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Arlington.

There have been 148,271 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 3,208 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 11,041 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
VDH reported Wednesday that 66,110 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 3.8 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 2,200,124 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 4.8 percent positivity rate, according to VDH.

There have been 19 outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Wednesday, with 573 cases related to an outbreak, with two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings.
There have been 220 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington involving health care workers.
Globally, more than 33.7 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 1 million people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Wednesday morning. In the United States, more than 7.1 million people have been infected and over 206,000 people have died from COVID-19.
On Monday, the Virginia Department of Health launched a new data dashboard showing community transmission of the coronavirus as well as visualizations for Centers for Disease Control school metrics to inform local decision-making.
The Pandemic Metrics Dashboard includes a Daily Region Metrics dashboard to visualize where COVID-19 is spreading in Virginia, Weekly Transmission Extent dashboard to guide state and local officials about the effects of COVID-19 on each region and whether mitigation measures could be needed in individual communities, and CDC School Metrics to help communities and school divisions understand the introduction and transmission of the virus in schools.

Arlington residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
