Arlington Coronavirus Update: 11 Additional Cases, No New Deaths
Virginia Health Department confirmed 11 additional cases Monday of the new coronavirus in the Arlington Health District.
ARLINGTON, VA — Virginia Department of Health reported 11 new cases Monday of COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, in the Arlington Health District. That's up from the five new cases of COVID-19 reported on Sunday. The total number of confirmed cases stands at 3,963.
Virginia health officials also reported no new deaths due to COVID-19 Monday in the Arlington. The last new death was reported on Saturday. The total of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health District is 149.
To date, there have been 498 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Arlington.

There have been 146,593 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 3,172 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 10,916 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
VDH reported Monday that 65,149 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 3.5 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 2,176,264 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 5 percent positivity rate, according to VDH.

There have been 19 outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Monday, with 575 cases related to an outbreak, with two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings. There have been 217 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington involving health care workers.
Globally, more than 33.1 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 998,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Monday morning. In the United States, more than 7.1 million people have been infected and over 204,000 people have died from COVID-19.

Arlington residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
