Arlington Coronavirus Update: 20 Additional Cases, No New Deaths
Virginia Department of Health reported 20 additional cases of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District Friday.

ARLINGTON, VA — Virginia Department of Health reported 20 new cases Friday of COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, in the Arlington Health District. That's up from the 14 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Thursday. The total number of confirmed cases stands at 3,909.
Virginia health officials also reported no new deaths due to COVID-19 Thursday in the Arlington. The last new death was reported on Tuesday. The total of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health
To date, there have been 498 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Arlington.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and his wife, Pamela Northam, have tested positive for the coronavirus after a member of the governor's residence staff also tested positive. While the governor has reported experiencing no symptoms of COVID-19 — the disease caused by the virus — Pamela Northam has reported experiencing mild symptoms.
There have been 144,433 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 3,136 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 10,806 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

VDH reported Friday that 63,453 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 3.3 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 2,119,729 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 5.3 percent positivity rate, according to VDH.

There have been 19 outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Friday, with 575 cases related to an outbreak, with two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings. There have been 215 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington involving health care workers.
Globally, more than 32.2 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 983,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Friday morning. In the United States, more than 6.9 million people have been infected and over 202,000 people have died from COVID-19.

Arlington residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
