Arlington County to Open Newly Renovated Quincy Park This Weekend

The county just finished a $1.1 million overhaul of the park to make it "universally designed."

ARLINGTON, VA — The Quincy Park Playground in the Virginia Square neighborhood in Arlington just got a big new renovation, and it will be officially open for kids with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday.

Arlington County is inviting the public to come to the playground, located at 1021 North Quincy Street, at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 to "celebrate the newly renovated playground and sand volleyball court at Quincy Park," according to a statement.

It will be Arlington's first "universally designed" playground that people of all abilities will be able to use.

The county spent $1.1 million on the renovation, which was set aside in the fiscal 2014 budget.

"The intent of the project is to create a new playground that uses the principles of universal design," according to the project website. "That is, to create a play environment for children without disabilities and children with disabilities.
