Arlington Motorcyclist Killed In Baileys Crossroads Crash On Sunday
A 19-year-old Arlington man died after his motorcycle crashed into a turning vehicle on Leesburg Pike late Sunday night.
ARLINGTON, VA — A 19-year-old Arlington man died after the motorcycle he was operating struck a vehicle making a turn onto Leesburg Pike late Sunday night in the Baileys Crossroads area, according to Fairfax County Police.
Officers responded around 11:10 p.m. to the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Glen Caryln Drive for the report of a crash involving a 1996 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2000 Acura sedan.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the left through-lane on Leesburg Pike when it struck the passenger side of the Acura, which was attempting to make a left turn onto Glen Caryln Drive from westbound Leesburg Pike.

The motorcyclist, whom police identified as Alejandro Portillo, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Acura remained on the scene following the crash, according to police.

Portillo was the eighth traffic crash fatality in Fairfax County since the beginning of the year. During the same time period in 2023,.the county had three traffic crash fatalities year to date.
