Arlington Police Searching Home of Ex-Husband of Murder Victim

Bonnie D. Black, 42, the mother of two, was found stabbed to death at her home in April.

Evidence found today at the home of the ex-husband of an Arlington murder victim could be helpful in breaking the case, according to a spokesman for the Arlington County Police Department.

Arlington County Police say they have found forensic evidence that could assist them with the murder investigation of Arlington resident Bonnie D. Black, 42. The mother of two was found stabbed in her home April 17.

“After consultation with examiners at the state lab, it is our belief that, potentially, items in the house that contain forensic evidence could assist us in our investigation,” said Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

Police began a “sealed search warrant” search early Thursday morning of the home of David Black, the ex-husband of the murder victim, said Sternbeck. The home is in Arlington, not far from the home of the murder victim.

David Black remained at his home for several hours Thursday morning during the search, and was free to go at any time, Sternbeck said. He eventually left the home while police were still on the scene; the search of the home was continuing as of Thursday afternoon.

Black was never detained and has not been charged or arrested, according to police.

The Blacks’ children are in custody of Bonnie D. Black’s family and David Black has had access to them, according to Sternbeck. The Blacks were separated at the time of the murder.
