Arlington Woman's Body ID'd 29 Years Later: Police
Police identified the body, which was found in 1991, after new information came to light while investigating her husband, police say.

ARLINGTON, VA -- It has been nearly 30 years since Marta Haydee Rodriguez of Arlington went missing. But authorities now know what happened to her, as police have connected her to remains discovered in 1991 in Stafford County.
The Office of the Virginia Chief Medical Examiner confirmed through DNA testing that those remains do indeed belong to Rodriguez, an Arlington resident who was 28 years old at the time, according to a statement from Virginia State Police.
The remains were found on Feb. 3, 1991 in the median of Interstate 95 at the 141 mile marker.

"The state medical examiner's office was unable to identify the female until recent testing was conducted at the request of the Virginia State Police and Arlington County Police Department," the statement reads. "The request was based on new information developed during a separate ongoing investigation involving her husband, Jose Rodriguez-Cruz."
Charges are pending as the investigation into her death and disappearance continues. Arlington County Police and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Culpeper Field Office are involved.
