Arlington County Public Health Providng Booster COVID-19 Vaccine Doses At Clinics

Arlington County Public Health is now offering COVID-19 vaccine boosters to eligible residents at its two clinics by appointment only.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County’s Public Health Division is now offering COVID-19 vaccine boosters for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines to eligible groups of people by appointment only.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved extra doses of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines. The county also is continuing to offer boosters of the Pfizer vaccine to eligible groups of people. Federal regulators authorized Pfizer booster doses on Sept. 24.

Now that there are booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the United States — Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson — eligible people may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose.

For people who received the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, a single booster shot is recommended for eligible people at least six months after completion of their primary COVID-19 vaccine series. For people who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, a single booster shot is recommended for people 18 and older at least two months after the initial dose.

Arlington County Public Health is offering COVID-19 booster doses at its two clinics by appointment only. People will be asked to confirm that they are eligible before receiving a booster. The two locations are:

Arlington Mill Community Center (909 S Dinwiddie St.)

  • Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Walter Reed Community Center (2909 16th St S.)

  • Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Both clinics will continue to offer walk-in and scheduled appointments for first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, and single doses of Johnson & Johnson. All booster doses and additional doses require an appointment.

The eligible groups of people for the vaccine boosters are:

  • People 65 years and older.
  • Residents 18 years and older in long-term care settings
  • People aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions.
  • People aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions.
  • People aged 18–64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting.

People who are eligible can receive a booster dose of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 wherever vaccines are available. Aside from the Arlington County clinics, options include healthcare provider and pharmacies.

Arlington County residents can visit Vaccinate Virginia to find an appointment for a booster vaccine.

Appointments for the Arlington County Public Health Division clinics can be made online though the Vaccine Administration Management System. Residents who require assistance scheduling an appointment with Arlington County Public Health can call 703-228-7999.

Residents must bring their vaccination card with them to confirm the date and type of vaccine they received and so their provider can fill in the information about the booster dose. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18.
