Clarendon Armed Robbery, Crystal City Burglary Investigated
Arlington County Police are investigating two serious crimes that took place Sunday in Clarendon and Crystal City.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police are investigating two significant crimes that took place Sunday morning. One is a robbery at a business in Clarendon, and the other is a burglary at Crystal City residence, according to the daily crime report.
Around 4:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Washington Blvd., for the report of an armed robbery. When they arrived, the officers learned the suspect had entered the business and stole a jar containing an undisclosed amount of cash from the counter. As the suspect tried to flee, the victim chased after him, but the suspect took out a knife and hammer and struck the victim. During the altercation, the suspect dropped the jar, which shattered. The suspect then fled the scene in a green Nissan pickup truck before police arrived. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, about 65, taller than 6-feet, overweight, and wearing a gray T-shirt.

Officers were dispatched around 7:22 a.m., to the 300 block of 23rd St., S., for the report of a larceny. Arriving officers determined that between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., unknown suspects had entered a residence and took items of value.

Two suspects later tried to use the victim's credit cards at multiple businesses. The first suspect is described as a white male with short blond hair. He is of medium build and approximately 5-foot-4 tall. He was seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants and glasses. The second suspect is described as a black male with a slightly skinnier build, standing about 5-foot-5. He was seen wearing a black baseball cap, light-colored T-shirt and dark pants.
Police are continuing to investigate both cases.
