On the Road

At 6:49 a.m. on Tuesday, a crash was reported on the westbound side of Interstate 66 near the Sycamore St. exit (#69). All westbound travel lanes are closed.

At 6:43 a.m., a crash was reported in the westbound lanes of I-66 near VA-28/Centreville (#53). Drivers should proceed with caution.

At 7:10 a.m., George Washington Pkwy southbound before VA-123/Chain Bridge Rd, right lane blocked by a disabled vehicle.

At 6:43 a.m., police activity was reported on VA-286/Fairfax County Pkwy in both directions between Burke Lake Rd. and Lee Chapel Rd. Follow police direction, with the road closure in effect.

At the southern end of VA-286/Fairfax County Pkwy, a crash was reported in the southbound lanes near Backlick Rd. around 5:20 a.m. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution.

A disabled vehicle was reported on the outer loop of the Beltway at mile marker 53.8 (0.4 miles north of VA-236 Exit52 A) in Fairfax County at 6:44 a.m. No lanes are closed.

A crash involving a pedestrian was reported at 5:23 a.m. on Georgia Ave. in Northwest D.C., affecting traffic in both directions north of Aspen St NW.

At 6:42 a.m., a crash was reported on the inner loop of the Beltway after Connecticut Ave. (#33) in Maryland. The right side is blocked.

A crash was reported at 5:37 a.m. on Alabama Ave. in Southeast D.C., closing both ways of the highway between 38th St SE and Pennsylvania Ave. Motorists are asked to follow police direction.

On The Rails

On the Red Line, trains are operating every 10 to 20 minutes on Tuesday with single tracking between Silver Spring and Forest Glen due to scheduled maintenance.

Weather

Expect hot and humid weather on Tuesday, but with less of a chance of severe weather than Monday. There's a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with partly sunny conditions most of the day and a high near 89. The low temperature is forecast to drop to only 72 Tuesday night. Temperatures for the rest of the week are expected to be in the low- to mid-90s, with a heat index above 100 degrees.
