Cresa Washington DC Vice President Brig Pari Plays A Key Role In The Launching Of The Latvian Seniors Open 2014

December 17, 2013 (Arlington, VA) – Brig Pari, a vice president with tenant representation firm Cresa Washington DC, is bringing together one of her biggest passions with her family heritage in creating a European Seniors Tour golf event that will take place next August in the Republic of Latvia.

An avid golfer whose mom was from Latvia, Pari has co-founded the Latvian Seniors Open 2014, the first European Seniors Tour outing held in Latvia. The event, from August 4 to August 10, is a 54-hole tournament at the award-winning Ozo Golf Club in Riga that will feature 72 European Seniors Tour professionals.

Prize money will total $750,000, with $120,000 going to the champion. The Latvian Seniors Open 2014 will support the efforts of Ronald McDonald House Charities Latvia, which transports Latvia’s best medical specialists on its Care Mobile travelling clinic to children in the countryside.

Pari’s partner in launching the Latvian Seniors Open 2014 is Nick Green, the founder and president of Bethesda-based MacDuff Consulting, a golf marketing and communications firm.

“We’re just getting things going now, and it’s really heading in the right direction,” Pari says, adding that she and Green are beginning to reach out to potential corporate sponsors.

Pari notes that the European Tour Productions will globally distribute the Latvian Seniors Open 2014, including on the Golf Channel in the United States, as an hour-long highlight show.

In addition to the 54-hole event, the Latvian Seniors Open 2014 will feature two related Pro-Am tournaments for sponsors, celebrities and other invited guests. Furthermore, several special social events will occur in historic venues.

The event’s host club, built in 2002 and situated on the banks of Lake Kisezers, is owned by Latvian ice hockey player Sandis Ozolinsh, a seven-time National Hockey League (“NHL”) All-Star who won the Stanley Cup when playing for the Colorado Avalanche in 1996.

The club’s name – “Ozo” – comes from Ozolinsh’s NHL nickname. Ozo Golf Club is just a 10-minute drive to the Central Business District of Riga, Latvia’s capital.

A key Baltic economic and financial center, Riga is a modern, cosmopolitan city with world-class culture, dining and hotels. In 2014, Riga will become the European Capital of Culture, and, the year after, Latvia will become the seat of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Says Pari: “I’m extremely excited to participate in the formation of this tournament, which will serve as a catalyst for a tremendous amount of economic development in Latvia while benefiting an important charitable organization.”

With the Latvian Seniors Open 2014, her civic participation has come full circle from her mother’s birthplace to Pari’s many philanthropic endeavors where she resides, in Arlington.

For years, she has supported organizations like the Arlington Host Lions Club, the Better Sports Club of Arlington, the Friends of Arlington’s David M. Brown Planetarium, and the Optimist Club of Arlington.

Pari, with the help of her son, Michael, also created the Sports, Math and Scientific Hypothesis (“SMASH”) poster contest for kindergarteners through fifth graders at Arlington County Public Schools.

In recognition of, and in appreciation for, her service to the Arlington community, the Inter-Service Club Council of Arlington recently named Pari its Woman of the Year.

“It’s a very special privilege to live in such a supportive community,” she says.
