Following the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize controversy, and with President Hu Jintao of China visiting Washington, D.C., this week, interest in Chinese human rights issues has been steadily rising. To meet this interest, the GMU Christian Legal Society is pleased to host a Human Rights Forum along with co-sponsors APALSA, GMU International Law Society, Thomas More Society, and J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
The Human Rights Forum will be held on February 1, 2011, from 6-7:30pm in the new Founders Hall auditorium. A panel of both Chinese and American human rights attorneys will discuss their personal experiences and will address issues including limitations on speech, assembly, internet use, and religious freedom. A reception with refreshments will follow, where attendees will have the opportunity to meet the speakers.
