A Farmer's Market in Rosslyn May Open This Month

The Arlington County Board will consider a permit for a farmer's market to run through November at their April 22 meeting.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington County Board will be considering a permit to allow an open-air farmer's market on the Central Place public plaza at 1800 N. Lynn Street in Rosslyn at their April 22 meeting.

D.C.-based FreshFarm Markets Inc. is the applicant, and the market would be called the "FreshFarm Rosslyn Market."

"The applicant, FreshFarm Markets, Inc., proposes to operate an open-air/farmer's market on the public plaza at Central Plaza," the county's agenda states. "The applicant request to operate the market on Wednesday from April through November, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The applicant proposes that vendors would bea llowed to arrive as early as 2 p.m. to set up, but sales would not begin until 4 p.m. when the market opens. Vendors would end selling promptly at 8 p.m. and vacate the premises before 9 p.m."

FreshFarm Markets expects 6 to 10 vendors to sell at the market in the first year. The vendors would use spaces along North Lynn Street and North Moore Street.

The permit would be up for review after one year.

The Central Place project is a 31-story commercial building and 30-story residential building that was approved back in 2007. The proposed open-air market would take up 8,000 square feet on the public plaza.
