Flash Flood Watch In Arlington Issued By NWS Due To Ida
National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch Wednesday for Arlington. Heavy rains could bring downed trees and power lines.

ARLINGTON, VA — National Weather Service issued a flood watch Wednesday morning for Arlington County, as the remnants of Tropical Depression Ida continue to move through the area. The flash flood watch extends through Thursday morning.
Heavy thunderstorms are expected to pass through the Washington, D.C. area Wednesday morning, bringing localized flash flooding, according to NWS.
Additional thunderstorms are predicted for the afternoon and evening, bringing rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches and as much as 6 inches in some areas.

With heavy rains falling in such a short period of time, the likelihood flooded streets, small streams and creeks increases. In addition, high winds accompanying thunderstorms could lead to downed trees and power lines in some areas, creating power outages and blocked roads.

As of 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, 104 customers were without power in Arlington, according to Dominion Energy.
NWS also warned residents that weather conditions along the I-95 corridor could bring tornadoes to neighboring communities on Wednesday morning. The public was encouraged to monitor weather conditions throughout the day.
Metro reported Wednesday morning that trains were bypassing the Cleveland Park station due to flooding and shuttle buses have been requested.
